Product Knowledge
What is rattan? Rattan is a very strong solid cane that grows and is harvested at various lengths. It loves moisture as it is grown in very humid climates and does very well on the west coast of Canada. The cane is bent to various shapes by using steam that allows it to keep its strength. Rattan is often confused with 'wicker' and bamboo, both of which are different products that do not offer near the strength of rattan. Many of our customers that have purchased rattan frames have returned to us to purchase new cushions for the furniture sets as the frames are outlasting the foam! In our 24 years we have witnessed the longevity of rattan first hand.
What is resin? Resin is a man made material that is used for outdoor furniture. It offers superior durability to the effects of the sun and weather. The strength of our resin furniture is in the frame which is made out of aluminum. A great deal of resin furniture has either a wood frame or a powder coated steel frame which will not last anywhere as long as aluminum in our climate. Outdoor fabric choices are available for your resin which will keep your furniture looking new longer. We have large pieces for that hard to fill vast outdoor space and have smaller single pieces that will fit in to that cozy unique nook in your backyard. Dining sets, sofas, sectionals, club chairs, loungers, bistro sets even umbrella’s we think we can find something to fit your space.
Linen thread count- This is a misunderstood issue. You see 200- 300- 400- 500- thread count sheets what does it mean? Great question! Where the fabric is manufactured is a very important issue to consider first. Let’s say that for the most part a 200 thread count sheet made in Egypt may contain the same softness as a 500 thread count sheet made in China. This is an example but we offer linens that are made all over the world with a variety of costs. We even offer Canadian made companies, not all that easy to find! From our furniture heritage we are now seeing bamboo fibers being used in many linen applications with wonderful results and benefits.
Open stock? We have long standing relationships with our suppliers and a great deal of our furniture is available to us on open stock. This means that we show on the sales floor in groups to give you a good chance to see how all the pieces look. We can order furniture for you in any configuration that suits your needs. Not seeing a fabric choice that you really like but have some fabric from another application? Bring it in and our suppliers will make the furniture for you with your fabric!
